Flip is an AI-native restaurant operating system: the guest app and kiosk, the kitchen display and the augmented grill, the menu and recipes, inventory and supply, finance and tax, analytics, loyalty, staff, and the multi-store / franchise layer — all on one backend, one API, real-time. Below is the order flow end to end, then every block of the software with live screenshots.
The guest builds a signature bowl — protein, base, doneness, a drink — with live calories, macros and allergens, then pays. App-only: every order is tied to an account, ready for zero-wait pickup.

Confirmed items become tickets on the KDS, routed to the Augmented Grill station with the chosen doneness, a live timer and warn/late thresholds. The cook bumps each one when it's ready.

Each patty gets a ring: target doneness, live core temperature, sear progress and a flip cue. The projector leads, the cook confirms — vision logs every move (instructed-vs-actual).

The bowl is assembled and the order number jumps from Preparing to Pick up on the lobby board — smart pickup, no line. The order closes; every step is captured as an event.

One menu, three guest surfaces — all clients of the same ordering API. A phone storefront (PWA) with a marketing-editable stories rail, banners and content pages; an in-store self-order kiosk that also opens from a shareable link; and a lobby pickup board that calls guests by name.

Every order is an open session with a money-true state machine — dine-in, takeaway, delivery, pre-orders. A fast touch register (POS) for staff, with carts, courses, splits, payments and a close-check.

A kitchen-display system with multi-station routing, load & ETA, warn/late thresholds and bump/recall — plus Flip's augmented grill on top: per-patty doneness, temperature and flip guidance.

Stock by location with two-phase deduction on recipe, plus the full warehouse toolkit — receiving, write-offs, stock counts, transfers, production acts — and supplier ordering with price history.

The system models all revenue and all expense, not just transactions: a chart of accounts, journal, counterparties, cash-flow and a single-store P&L — plus fiscal receipts and tax reporting.

Every action — a tap in the app, a flip on the grill, a temperature reading — is an immutable event streamed to HQ. Live dashboards mine sales, traffic and the instructed-vs-actual cook signal.

A guest profile for everyone who orders (near-100% identified, since ordering is app-first), with loyalty, promotions, campaigns, upsell and review collection.

Roles, positions, shift scheduling, time-clock and timesheets, cash shifts — built to support fair-scheduling rules (advance notice, predictability) for the NYC market.

Own-delivery with zones and courier dispatch, aggregator integration (orders flow into the same pipeline), and an integrations layer behind swappable adapters.

Tenancy-aware from day one: locations, networks and brands, franchisee management and statements. The model behind "HQ is an IT company, partners own the restaurants."

Each store's public storefront is themed and published from the console — brand, fulfillment modes, contacts, custom domain — and marketing edits its stories, banners and content pages directly, changeable day to day. Kiosks and boards are provisioned as devices with a store key.

Everything is API-first: a documented public API (578 endpoints) that the app, kiosk, board and partners all use — and that AI agents can order through directly, now productized with self-service keys, granular scopes, per-key rate limits and a sandbox org. A built-in AI assistant lets staff run reports and fill anything by chat — or by voice — instead of hunting through screens.

Three IT moves that compound Flip's moat beyond what's live today — each leans on something Flip uniquely has. Proposed, not yet shipped.
The augmented grill records what nobody else has — every flip, every temperature, and the gap between "as instructed" and "as actually cooked."
Simulate a store from a demand forecast before it's built — queues, pickup ETA, station load, food cost, labor.
The first QSR an AI agent orders from directly, and that pushes per-customization nutrition into health & wallet apps (Apple Health, MyFitnessPal, Whoop).
Price and promote by real-time demand and inventory — off-peak offers to fill the lulls, and a nudge toward high-margin, low-waste bowls.
